Ingredients:
8oz self-raising flour
Pinch of salt
2oz butter
1oz caster sugar
150ml milk
1 medium egg, beaten (to glaze - alternatively use milk)

Method
- Preheat oven to 220°C/425°F/Gas 7
- Mix together the flour and salt
- Rub in the butter
- Stir in the sugar and then gradually add the milk to create a soft dough
- Kneed dough lightly on a floured work surface
- Use a cutter to stamp out rounds
- Place stamps onto a buttered baking sheet
- Glaze the top of the scones with the beaten egg
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, until risen and golden-brown
- Leave to cool on a wire cooling rack
- Serve and enjoy! ☺
