Scones

Cooking Time: 10-15 Minutes
Serves: 8-12 Scones
Dietary: Vegetarian

Ingredients: 
8oz self-raising flour
Pinch of salt
2oz butter
1oz caster sugar
150ml milk
1 medium egg, beaten (to glaze - alternatively use milk)



Method

  1. Preheat oven to 220°C/425°F/Gas 7
  2. Mix together the flour and salt
  3. Rub in the butter
  4. Stir in the sugar and then gradually add the milk to create a soft dough
  5. Kneed dough lightly on a floured work surface
  6. Use a cutter to stamp out rounds
  7. Place stamps onto a buttered baking sheet
  8. Glaze the top of the scones with the beaten egg
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until risen and golden-brown
  10. Leave to cool on a wire cooling rack
  11. Serve and enjoy! ☺
